Students in online degree programs, are you looking to save some space on your resume?

Many people, including students in online degree programs, seem to despise and/or fear math. Those emotions may be understandable for people who have suffered unfortunate experiences in their schooling (something different than true education). Nonetheless, the practical application, and therefore the knowledge, of elementary mathematics is indispensable in everyday life. Below are four such uses:

Zachary is already thinking about walls, or at least that’s what he tells me in his first writing assignment for our English Composition 1 class, an assignment that asks students to examine their writing process. He explains how he has struggled with grammar, punctuation and formatting. 

Last week's edition of TGIF Video Friday featured a fearless feline, who apparently didn't believe it was a death wish to toss lightning-quick jabs at an alligator. Either that or the cat truly thought he had nine lives.

When you think of February, what comes to mind: large rats seeing their shadow and predicting more winter, Cupid slinging arrows at unsuspecting people, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington hocking appliance sales? Personally, I think “awards season.” After all, the Grammy’s were on Sunday (loved the Etta James and Whitney Houston tribute songs) and the Academy Awards aren’t too far away – yay!

To keep the wheel functioning at an optimal level, every spoke must work together in support of one another. In the event that even one spoke fails to carry out its purpose, the entire wheel could spiral into a tailspin of malfunction.

As you celebrate Valentine’s Day eating candy hearts or spending an evening out with someone special, take time to think about what you are truly passionate about and a career you would love to pursue.
