A long time ago, I had someone tell me to "Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something". This stuck with me. There were some setbacks and roadblocks along the way to completing this part of my journey, but I am happy to get the opportunity to get a bachelor's degree. I have had many advisors, teachers, preachers, and friends and family that have advised me over the years. The one thing that has stuck with me from them all is that no one will believe in you as much as you believe in yourself. With everything that you have been through, there is always light at the end. This is one of those lights at the end moments. I would like to thank all those teachers and mentors who have help me get to this point.Lorenzo T., BA in Strategic Communications
Achieving my Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration was by far the most challenging journey I ever had to endure. Throughout the many challenges, trials and tribulations, my determination remained unbothered, I knew it was going to require my to persevere, and with GODS GRACE, I did just that. First in my family to receive a Masters Degree. I endured a major accomplishment. I’m looking forward to what the future holds for me. Whatever challenges comes my way, I’m officially prepared. Anything is possible, with God, determination, and patience.Shontasia E., MHA in Healthcare Administration
At 29 years old, as a full-time employee and a mom of two, earning my Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of. Balancing work, family, and school wasn't always easy, and there were times when I felt overwhelmed. But I stayed focused on my goal and kept pushing forward, one assignment at a time. A big part of my success was the support of my advisor, Sarah Steger. She was always there whenever I needed help, guidance, or encouragement. This degree represents perseverance, resilience, and the example I hope to set for my children: that no matter how challenging life gets, you should never give up on your goals.Savannah S., AA in Business Administration and Management
Completing my degree has shown me how strong and determined I really am. There were times when life became overwhelming, and balancing being a mother, working full-time, and continuing my education was not easy. I faced personal challenges and moments when giving up would have been easier, but I kept going. My son has been one of my biggest motivations because I want him to see that even when life gets hard, you can still accomplish your goals. This journey taught me perseverance, resilience, and to believe in myself. I am proud that I continued to push forward, even on the days when I felt like I had nothing left to give. Earning my degree is not just an accomplishment for me; it represents everything I overcame to get here.ShyDaria J., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my degree while battling a cancer diagnosis is an accomplishment I will always cherish. Balancing treatments, appointments, and coursework tested my strength and determination every day. There were times when the challenges felt overwhelming, but I refused to give up on my goal. With the encouragement of my family, friends, and instructors, I learned to focus on one step at a time and celebrate every victory, no matter how small. Their support and the advice to keep moving forward helped me persevere. Earning this degree is proof that resilience, faith, and determination can overcome even the toughest obstacles.Charmaine M., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Earning my degree was a journey of personal growth, gratitude, and grit. Balancing coursework with life's daily responsibilities challenged me, and there were moments when self-doubt made me question myself. Was going back to school at this point in my life a smart decision? I learned to take things one step and one assignment at a time, keep showing up, and just trust the process. I am deeply grateful to my friends, family, coworkers, mentors, instructors, and everyone who encouraged me when I felt overwhelmed. Their support reminded me the perseverance can turn challenges into achievements, and I am proud and grateful of how far I have come. Thank you, UA Grantham.Kristin P., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
Earning my degree has been a journey built around constantly adapting and moving forward. During my time at UA Grantham, I balanced military service, raising four children, including welcoming two of them while taking classes, moving my family from Arkansas to Arizona, and navigating two major career changes. I also completed Warrant Officer Candidate School and Warrant Officer Basic Course along the way. There were plenty of times when life made school difficult, but I kept working toward the goal one class at a time. Reaching graduation means more to me because of everything that happened along the way, and I am proud that through every change and challenge, I never gave up on finishing what I started.Kenny S., BS in Cybersecurity
Earning my degree has been a journey of perseverance and determination. I balanced working full time, raising a family, recovering from multiple knee surgeries, and overcoming challenges in my personal life while continuing my education. There were times when it would have been easy to give up, but my family kept me motivated. I wanted my sons to see that obstacles do not have to determine their future. After earning my associate degree, I continued toward my bachelor's degree to grow as a leader and create better opportunities for my family. This degree proves to me that hard work and persistence pay off.Steven G., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration
Earning my degree has been about fifteen years in the making. I started right out of high school but due to health and other factors I was not able to finish until becoming a student at UA Grantham. The person that pushed me and encouraged me the most was my wife. She encouraged me that it is never to late to accomplish your dreams! She studied with me and always made sure I had time to do my school work and never once complained about the late nights. I worked to get my degree for her so that I can continue on to a great career and be able to provide the life she deserves.Beau B., AS in Computer Science
Earning my degree has been one of the hardest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I’ve had to balance school, work, financial challenges, and personal struggles while still finding the strength to keep going. There were many days when giving up would have been easier, but I kept reminding myself that I started this journey for a reason. Every assignment, late night, stressful moment, and obstacle brought me one step closer to this moment. I’m proud of myself for continuing even when things weren’t easy. This degree represents more than finishing school—it represents my resilience, my growth, and the fact that I believed in myself enough to keep going.Shalandra A., AA in Criminal Justice
Earning my degree is a milestone I am incredibly proud of. My journey was not always easy. There were times when life felt overwhelming, but I refused to let my challenges become the reason I gave up on my dreams. I had to learn how to keep going even when I was tired, discouraged, and unsure of what was ahead. My faith, determination, and the people who encouraged me along the way kept me moving forward. I reminded myself that every assignment, every late night, and every difficult moment was bringing me closer to my goal. Today, I can proudly say that I persevered, and I am proof that with faith, resilience, and determination, you can accomplish what you set your mind to.Alexandria M., BA in Criminal Justice
Earning my degree is a moment I will always be proud of because I know how much perseverance it took to get here. There were moments when I questioned myself and wondered if I could make it to the finish line, but I kept reminding myself why I started. I pushed through the difficult days, the late nights, and the moments of doubt, choosing to take it one step and one assignment at a time. This journey taught me that resilience is not about never struggling—it is about finding the strength to keep going. Today, I am proud of the person I have become and grateful for everyone who encouraged me along the way. I did not give up, and that makes this achievement even more meaningful.Shannon M., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Finishing my degree was a little like assembling IKEA furniture without the instructions: confusing, occasionally frustrating, and there were definitely moments when I questioned my life choices. Between work, family, and everything else life decided to throw into the mix, there were plenty of times when quitting would have been easier. But I kept going. I learned that perseverance isn’t about never getting tired or overwhelmed. Sometimes it means taking a breath, drinking more coffee, and submitting the assignment anyway. My family, instructors, and advisors encouraged me along the way, but ultimately, I had to keep choosing to move forward: proof that I can do hard things, even when life doesn’t make them easy.Rebecca C., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management
Finishing this degree will be significant because it means accomplishing a long-term goal of mine. Juggling work, family commitments, graduate courses, as well as adjusting to living and working in the United States took a lot of self-control, patience, and strength. There were moments where I wanted to quit school and just give up. But I kept my eye on the bigger picture and pushed through. My family has helped keep me driven and when I wanted to throw in the towel they motivated me to keep going. This degree means more than just academics to me. It means keeping pushed, growing as an individual, and knowing that if you set your mind to something and work hard those tough goals can be reachable.Noorullah B., MS in Information Technology
I am graduating from UA Grantham, and I want to be proud of my accomplishments from going to school. There were times I would keep myself disciplined and determined and work my way up from there. My family and kids are a major source of motivation for me to keep going. And what I learned from this was that setbacks do not define you—your persistence and determination to move forward do.Malik B., AA in Criminal Justice
I attempted to get my associates degree in healthcare administration twice before now. Life had other plans for me so I was unsuccessful. This go around I made a promise to myself that no matter what trials I ran into or how long I took I will continue to push through to ensure I received my degree this go round. It was hard work. I went through long nights, tears, fear and struggles, but I made it. I’ve never been so proud of myself as I am now other than when I watched my son get his diploma. Now my son gets to witness me receive my degree. I pray and hope my story inspires him to always believe in himself and push forward no matter what life may throw at him.Heather H., AAS in Healthcare Administration
I attended 3 colleges during this journey pursuing my degree, the last one being University of Arkansas Grantham. I found the right college for me when I began here. I am 50 years old and just now going to college. While chasing my dreams I was hospitalized several times, had a heart attack and required a stent to be placed in my main artery. I became a grandma 4 times and lost my mother just a few weeks ago. I faced many challenges and kept pushing towards the finish line. I am proud of myself more than anything else. I did this not only for myself, but to show my children that it doesn't matter how old you are, your never too old to follow your dreams.Anitra H., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
I decided to go back to school after my mother passed away in 2018. One of the things she always encouraged me to do was not waste my potential and to go back to school to discover what I truly wanted to pursue. After she passed, I decided to follow through on that wish and challenge myself to continue my education. I earned my Associate of Arts degree in Business Management, and I am proud of myself for taking that step and accomplishing something that meant so much to both of us. Going back to school has been a way for me to honor my mother’s wishes while also investing in my own future.Emerald E., AA in Business Administration and Management
I finished my associates degree with Grantham back in 2017. After years of building my career, I realized I had maxed out my potential in my field if I did not achieve a higher degree. In 2024 I chose to come back to Grantham to pursue a bachelor's degree. Balancing full-time work, a wife and three young children on top of bachelor's course work was difficult. However, I knew what I wanted and I would not stop until I achieved it. I am beyond proud of myself and fellow classmates and instructors I had the privilege to work with and learn from. The only thing I would change is waiting so long to pursue my degree.Zachery V., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration
I honestly never thought I’d go back to college and obtain an Associates, let alone a Bachelors, and now a Masters degree! It’s taken a lot for me to go this far and finish, but I’m so thankful to have endeavored in this journey. I’m even more thankful to God and my family for the support and encouragement through this whole process.Sean S., MS in Information Technology
I’ve always encouraged my family to pursue higher education, and I knew that if I was going to push them toward their goals, I needed to commit to mine as well. I started working toward an associate degree nearly 30 years ago, and although life pulled me in different directions, the desire to finish never went away. Eventually, I returned to school, earned my associate degree, and continued on to my Bachelor’s. My daughter was inspired to pursue college, and my wife was encouraged to do the same. Now, after decades of determination, I can finally say that I finished what I started. I achieved something meaningful for myself, and I’m proud of the example it sets for my family.James B., BS in Cybersecurity
It wasn’t easy, but it was very fun and interesting I learned a lot of new information and stuff I’m able to apply in certain situations, the professors were amazing and made the courses enjoyable and fun.Krishna H., AS in Engineering Management Technology
I've worked a full time job and taking care of my kids thats autistic that i take care of full time as wellTommy D., BBA in Business Administration
My Biggest Motivation to complete this Masters program are the two little boys that call me Mommy. Although this has been a rough 2 years, I was wanting to quit so many times but being able to show my boys that I can still do it while working full time and also being an active mom. I want my boys to be able to say Mom did itBrittany G., MBA in Business Administration
My degree has been a journey of hard work, sacrifice, and resiliency. My experience in the military taught me to stay focused even when it gets tough. It wasn’t always easy to keep up with school, family, and life; it was hard. I often wanted to give up, but I was thinking of my kids and what I wanted to do for them. I wanted them to know that no matter how tough it gets to work, you never give up on your dreams. Today I can confidently say that I have finished what I started. This degree is more than education; it is determination, growth, and never giving up.Malik B., AA in Criminal Justice
My journey to completing my degree has been about perseverance, discipline, and believing in myself even when life made it difficult. balancing school with working full-time and being there for my family taught me how to manage my time, stay focused, and keep moving forward when things didn't go as planned. There were times when I was tired, stressed, and wanted to put school on hold, but I reminded myself why I started. I wanted to prove to myself that it's never too late to myself that it's never too late to chase your goals. My advice to anyone working toward a degree is simple, stay consistent, don't let setbacks define you, and never give up on yourself. This accomplishment represents much more than a degree it represents determination.Dwayne S., AA in Business Administration and Management
My journey to completing my degree has not always been easy, but I refused to give up. Balancing school and my responsibilities was challenging, and there were times when I doubted myself. My children have been one of my biggest motivations to keep going and show them the importance of education and determination. I am proud of how far I have come. This journey taught me that setbacks do not mean failure. I kept pushing forward, and now I am closer than ever to achieving my goal.Shalaunte W., AA in Business Administration and Management
My name is Diamond Bradley. Completing my degree means more to me than words can express. Five years ago, I lost my mom, and her passing left me feeling lost and hopeless. There were moments when I wanted to give up, but I knew she would want me to keep going. I turned my pain into motivation and kept pushing, even when it was difficult. Today, I am proud to say I made it. This degree represents my strength, perseverance, and resilience. I hope my mom is looking down on me with the biggest smile, knowing I never gave up. I did it for her, and I did it for me.Diamond B., AA in Criminal Justice
This course has been a valuable experience that has strengthened my knowledge and understanding of Medical Billing and Coding. The course challenged me to think critically and pay close attention to details, which are important skills in the healthcare field.Chanel L., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
This has been a wonderful journey and I will say that it was challenging but very rewarding. This has helped me learn how to balance my time in even stricter ways then ever before and has taught me how to learn in new and exciting ways. This degree program is an eye opener to how much academic studies can create new avenues of growth in a career path and even in your personal life. I only wish I would have started sooner! This is something that does take a lot of time, dedication, and hard work that can only be achieved with some grit and resilience but is so worth it! I often recommend to anyone who is thinking about going back to school to do it now, don't wait, its never too late!Zain H., BBA in Business Administration - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration
This journey has been exciting and challenging. I work full time and have been taking care of my sick brother. Alec Tillery is a great advisor. He sends text messages and emails to check in to see how things are going. I love Grantham and my experience has been wonderful; I will refer others that are looking to attend college.Angela V., MHA in Healthcare Administration
To begin, this was my second chance at getting my bachelor's degree, and I wasn't initially the best student. In my first semester, I was so afraid of failure that I closed myself off, leading to F's in both classes. I honestly thought I wasn't cut out for education and wanted to give up. That failure weighed heavily on me because I truly wanted better for myself. Then, Anna Walters stepped in and reassured me that I had what it took, teaching me to believe in myself. Her encouragement and help allowed me to see that success was actually possible, and for that I am thankful. That said, success isn't always the first chance you get; it can also be the second if you can believe.Caleb M., BBA in Business Administration - Human Resource Management Concentration
UA Grantham showed me what perseverance dedication and believing in yourself really are. School work family life wasn’t always easy but I didn’t give up on my goal. I am excited for what is ahead and ready to use my education to start a new chapter in my career and create a better future for myself and my family.Brittney N., AS in Computer Science
What an incredible journey I've been on! At 55 years old, I never imagined that I would find myself heading off to college, but here I am, living proof that it's never too late to pursue your dreams! Thanks to the University of Arkansas Grantham, I've had the chance to dive into the world of higher education, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience. The way they've designed the coursework is really impressive, everything feels so thoughtfully planned out and tailored to help students succeed. Their support and encouragement helped me every step of the way in working toward my associate's degree, which is such an accomplishment.LaRoyce B., AA in Business Administration and Management
Kudos UA Grantham Team Members

To be honest, I struggled significantly with English Composition, having failed the course three times. Mr. Greg Gildersleeve could of gave up on me. I was at a point where I felt like giving up on my degree, but Mr. Gildersleeve never gave up on me. He took the time to understand where I was struggling and provided the extra guidance and encouragement I needed to finally succeed. He didn’t just teach the curriculum; he invested in my success as a student. Because of his patience and his refusal to let me quit, I was finally able to pass the course and regain the confidence I needed to continue my education. He is the definition of an instructor who truly cares about his students’ futures."Shalaunte W., AA in Business Administration and Management

Shaun Gray's ability to clearly explain concepts and provide helpful feedback made a positive difference in my learning experience.Kenny S., BS in Cybersecurity
Let’s be honest: “Managerial Economics” is not exactly a course title that makes most students think, Well, this should be fun! It sounds like the academic equivalent of being handed a calculator and told to enjoy the weekend. Somehow, Dr. Geoffrey VanderPal managed to make the subject not only understandable, but genuinely interesting. What stood out to me was his ability to take concepts that could easily feel abstract or overly technical and connect them to the real world. He made economics feel less like memorizing formulas and more like understanding how and why businesses actually make decisions. His teaching encouraged me to think beyond simply getting the right answer and instead understand the reasoning behind it. But what I appreciated most was the way he taught. Dr. VanderPal brought knowledge, patience, and personality into the classroom. He created an environment where asking questions did not feel like admitting you were lost in the economic wilderness. Instead, it felt like part of the learning process. As a working professional completing my MBA, I have taken quite a few courses where I could tell the instructor knew the material. With Dr. VanderPal, I could also tell he genuinely cared about whether his students learned it. There is a difference. To me, that is what a teacher should be. Not simply someone who delivers information, but someone who makes you think, challenges you to understand, and occasionally makes you wonder why you ever thought economics was going to be easy. Dr. VanderPal made a difference in my experience as an MBA student because he helped turn a subject that could have been intimidating into something I could actually apply and appreciate.Rebecca C., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management

Her encouragement meant a lot to me, especially during moments when balancing school and everything else felt challenging. Knowing that an instructor noticed my effort and took the time to acknowledge it motivated me to continue pushing forward. Whenever I reached out to Judge Cutchin with questions or needed assistance, she was always willing to help. She was responsive, supportive, and made me feel comfortable reaching out when I needed guidance. Her willingness to communicate and make sure I understood what was expected showed me that she genuinely cared about her students’ success. Judge Cutchin is an instructor who goes beyond simply teaching a course. She recognizes her students, supports them, and encourages them to believe in the work they are putting in. Robert Freeborough really pushed me to another level in my academic writing. Not only did he work with me on what it was he was looking for and where he thought I could go, he gave me the opportunity to prove it to him when I was unhappy with a grade I received. He gave me a one day extension to rewrite my paper and bring it to a higher level of academic excellence. I was pleased when the new grade reflected the hard work we put in together to achieve it. I will never forget the belief he had in me and my abilities to take my writing to another level. I appreciate that kind of work ethic, belief and support.Zachery V., BBA in Business Administration - General Management Concentration

Lance Rosenow has been one of those people throughout my UA Grantham journey who simply would not let me disappear. He has checked on me so consistently that I’m pretty sure “Rebecca, are you still checking in?” should be his official signature. Whenever I had questions, needed help, or was trying to figure out my next step, Lance was there. He helped me navigate the process of getting back into school to complete my bachelor’s degree, and once I finished that chapter, he was right there helping me move into the master’s program. It took me a little while to get where I wanted to go, but Lance never made me feel like I was behind or that I was bothering him. He kept checking in, answering questions, and making sure I knew what my options were. Sometimes that little reminder from someone who genuinely cares is exactly what a student needs to keep moving forward. Looking back, I appreciate that Lance didn’t just help me register for classes. He helped me stay connected to the bigger goal. From returning to school for my bachelor’s degree to continuing into my MBA, he was a consistent source of support along the way. So, Lance, thank you for the many check-ins, the questions, the reminders, and for apparently deciding that I was not allowed to quietly fall off the academic map. That kind of dedication is exactly what student service should look like, and I am grateful that he was part of my UA Grantham journey.Rebecca C., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management

I DID IT! MEDICAL BILLING & CODING GRADUATE! This journey was not easy, but I’m so proud of myself for seeing it through. Between being a mom, working, managing my responsibilities, and continuing to build my future, there were plenty of days when I felt overwhelmed and wanted to give up. But I kept going. I’ve learned so much about healthcare, medical terminology, coding, billing, insurance, regulations, and the importance of accuracy and patient privacy. Every assignment, late night, challenging lesson, and stressful moment was preparing me for this next chapter. I’m proud of the woman I’m becoming and excited about where this new career path can take me. This is only the beginning!Briesha W., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
At first, I was extremely nervous about joining another college. I stayed on schedule and did my best to complete all the assignments to the best of my ability. The more good grades I got, the more my confidence went up. The confidence I gained kept me excited to do more and more because I knew I was doing it right, and that made me proud of myself. I hit a hard spot and had to take a break at one point, and I was offered the option to drop the classes if I needed to. I couldn't give anyone that satisfaction; I'd come too far. I took that break and watched the calendar every day, waiting to come back. I guess what I'm trying to say is, do what you need, not what is expected of you.Megan G., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant

Grief is what led me back to school. I needed something positive to focus on instead of allowing myself to drown in sorrow, and earning my master's degree was a goal I wanted to accomplish before turning 40. I turned 40 in August while finishing my capstone, and I am incredibly proud that I kept going. Balancing life, family, work, and school was not always easy, but this journey gave me purpose and helped me stay focused through some of the hardest moments of my life. I was at a low point, but I knew it wasn’t the end of my story. When my job stopped serving me, I walked away to protect my mental health, closing a chapter after 16 years in childcare. A conversation with my neighbor cracked something open: I needed to finish my degree. I applied that same day. Weeks later, I was hired by the school district — proof that motion creates momentum. Then came the breakthrough: I wasn’t just a childcare worker, I was a staple of my community. It was time to build my own childcare center — a legacy for my family. My sister Shalonda kept the fire lit under me. My son Dominic is my reason. University of Arkansas Grantham became the bridge to a better life. This is for you, Dad. I did it.Felicia E., AA in Business Administration and Management

In June 2024, my children and I lost my husband—their father—and the future we had planned changed overnight. I had to rebuild those plans while creating a path forward for us. UA Grantham made it possible to remain in rural Pennsylvania and pursue an ambitious goal: earning a new bachelor’s degree entirely from home. The journey demanded discipline, balance, and perseverance because life did not pause when coursework became difficult. My daughters have watched me work at my laptop every day, and they now understand what commitment looks like. At 47, I am not only earning a degree; I am showing them that life may not unfold as we expect, but we still have the power to decide what we make of it.Barbara K., BS in Computer Science
Just a Blessing. I never though I would be in this position. So Blessed.Darrin W., AA in Business Administration and Management
My college experience was far from easy. I was balancing school with financial struggles, housing problems, finding work, family responsibilities, relationship challenges, and trying to rebuild my life. I dealt with setbacks like running out of student loans and being dropped from a semester, while also facing challenges finding employment because of my past. At times, school felt like another responsibility on top of everything else. I also pursued my passion for music while trying to stay focused on my degree. There were many moments I wanted to give up, but I kept going. Finishing college means more to me because I know everything I had to overcome to get here. It taught me resilience, discipline, and that setbacks don’t define me.Antoin S., AA in Business Administration and Management

Returning to school as an adult taught me that perseverance is often less about overcoming one huge obstacle and more about continuing to move forward when life gets difficult. There were challenging classes, long nights, moments of frustration, and plenty of times when I wondered why I had decided to do this to myself. Still, I kept going. My husband has been one of my biggest supporters throughout this journey and always encouraged me when things became difficult. This journey has been hard but I am grateful for being able to push through. I faced so many obstacles along this course that i almost gave up. I actually had gotten kicked out of school and had to file an appeal to get back in. Once i was able to get back into school, I made sure to make great progress. With the help of my student advisor Ms. Anna, I was able to get through my classes while going through one of the hardest times of my life. She called me every week and made sure to give me great advice on whatever i was going through at the time. Thank you so much Ms. Anna. Well now that I’ve finished my MBA in project management, I’ve got one more chapter to close and that’s to retire from the military in less than 24 months. UAG has given me the educational knowledge to enter the workforce well informed and it’s been a journey. One at that for future student I will say, don’t think about it and take that first step. You won’t regret it at UAG!Daniel L., MBA in Business Administration - Project Management
While enduring alot of crazy life challenges I stuck with something for the first time in years and actually was successful with graduationAmberley B., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Wow. This is a bittersweet moment for me. I am the very first person to earn a college degree in my immediate family. I'm not ashamed that I earned it at the age of 31 but I am mostly proud that I have earned a college degree at 31. I always knew I wanted more for myself but I never had that support and push from the people I was looking for it from. I had my first kid at 19 years old and was suppose to join the army but I never went. Years passed by and I had a second child 7 years later. After starting my career in law enforcement I knew I wanted to do more. I told myself I had to get this degree if I don't do anything else. I am only trying to become a better person for myself and my daughters.Tamara W., AA in Criminal Justice

From the very beginning of my educational journey, Stacey Jones has been persistent in encouraging me to continue my education and pursue my associate degree, even during times when I did not believe it was a realistic option for me. Her confidence in my potential helped me see opportunities that I might have otherwise overlooked. Because I work night shifts, I am often asleep when Stacey conducts her regular check-ins. Despite this challenge, she has always been responsive and available whenever I have questions or need assistance. I have always appreciated her commitment to responding as quickly as possible within school availability hours, which has made me feel supported throughout my program. One experience that stands out occurred when I was unable to access a required textbook link for one of my classes. Without access to the materials, I could not complete my coursework.
As a single mother, I made the courageous decision to return to school. Not long after, I faced a devastating home fire that displaced me, forcing me to move from place to place. Despite these hardships, I struggled to find employment and lost my daughter. Yet, I held onto hope and recognized that gaining new skills could improve my life. Grantham gave me that hope—a reason to keep pushing forward. Even if I had to complete my degree while sleeping outside, I believed it was possible to overcome any obstacle. Through life's trials, I chose to stay committed to my dreams of success. Thank you, University of Arkansas Grantham, for being the guiding light during some of my darkest, loneliest days. I am proud to say that I am Graduate.Candis W., AA in Business Administration and Management
At first, due to previous situations, I didn't even want to go back to school. I was so hurt by the past I had a fear of a repeat situation, so I felt like there was no point in even trying again. I also thought of every reason why I couldn't and why it wouldn't work. I had a newborn at the time, I was a parent, I had to work, take care of the house, and I just couldn't see myself doing all of that and being okay. It was a bit rocky at first until I got some sense of a routine down. Time has passed and I have gotten through all the obstacles that came my way. Now I am extremely excited for this next chapter in my life. I can't wait to see what's next.Antranique K., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
Balancing the pursuit of my degree while working full-time and raising two children initially appeared to be a challenge. However, the flexibility offered by the UA Grantham online program empowered me to persevere through these significant personal obstacles, effectively transforming what I once perceived as an impossible goal into a reality. Being a retired veteran of 20 years, I once heard a great saying. Every day, make your bed. This starts the day with an accomplished task getting your mind set in a positive and successful direction. If your day turns out to produce absent or rotten results, then at least you come home to a made bed. This helped me to maintain my mental strength throughout my life. I have endured many hardships throughout my life, including life threatening events, but being able to humble myself and think of everyday as a new experience, has taught me to put the past where it belongs, good or bad, and seek the fruits that today can produce.Scott P., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies
Being a single mother and going to school was not easy. Through it all my daughter was my biggest motivation and support. While in school there was an ice storm where I had to use my phone's hotspot for the internet to do homework. I lost my job after 3 years, which caused a lot of financial stress, which sent me into a depression. There were so many moments where I was overwhelmed, stressed, and even questioned if I had made the right decision on going back to school. No matter how much I wanted to give up, my many prayers, family, and friends made sure to encourage and push me to succeed. Every storm and struggle on this journey has helped shape me into a better person, developed my character, and strengthened my faith in God.Quinshayla W., BS in Health Information Management

For over twenty years, I put my dream of a college degree on hold while raising my family. When I finally found the courage to start, life tested me relentlessly. Since 2011, every single time I enrolled, profound tragedy struck I lost my home, my mom then my dad, my sister and even myself. I feel into a life of addiction and self destruction, I genuinely believed the universe was telling me I wasn’t meant to succeed. But resilience isn't about avoiding the storm; it's about learning to walk through the fire. Today I am proud to say I battled the storm, walked out of the fire and achieved my dream of becoming a college graduate!Jerri P., AA in Paralegal Studies
Graduating from my degree program is one of my proudest achievements. My journey taught me the true meaning of perseverance, resilience, and believing in myself through difficult seasons. Losing my mother to cancer was one of my greatest challenges, but her strength and determination inspired me to keep pushing forward. Her example reminded me to never give up. Also, being the best version of myself so I can show my children anything is possible. Today, my degree represents more than an academic accomplishment it represents my strength, determination, and the ability to overcome obstacles. I hope my story inspires others to keep chasing their dreams, no matter the challenges they face.Robert W., AA in Business Administration and Management
I started my degree in 2019 and I am finally graduating in 2026 with a BS in Electronics Engineering Technology. It was a long journey but I never gave up. Now my engineering degree is one of my proudest achievements, and I am excited for new opportunities that my degree has opened for me.Robert D., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
It's been a long time coming. I started my journey at UA Grantham back in 2012, and now, in 2026, I'm finally earning my degree. Along the way, I served on active duty in the military, welcomed two amazing children, medically retired from military service, and began a new career as a full-time DoD employee. There were many times life could have pulled me away from my education, but I refused to give up. My family has been my biggest motivation, and I'm proud to be the first person in my family to earn a college degree. This milestone represents years of perseverance, sacrifice, and the belief that it's never too late to finish what you started.Tiffany M., BS in Information Systems
Two years ago, I would have never thought I would be graduating from college. Going back to school after being out so long was so scary. I doubted myself, questioned if I could do it, and wondered if I was making the right decision. I was so nervous that I didn't tell anyone I just did it. Balancing work, my personal life and school wasn't easy. There were plenty of late nights, stressful weeks and days when I was mentally and physically exhausted. More than once, I wanted to give up, but I kept reminding myself why I started to create a better future for myself and children. This degree represents so much more than graduating. It represents growth and proving to myself that its never too late to chase any goals.Shana W., AS in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
What motivated me while I worked full time to obtain my degree is my kids. There were days when I wanted to give up but if it wasn’t for them my road to success would be different. I also would like to give shoutout to my husband. Without him this would be impossible.Brittany D., AA in Criminal Justice

Before attending UA Grantham, I had enrolled in other schools, but each time life struck with devastating events that made continuing my education impossible. From losing my home in a tornado to the passing of both my parents, and most recently the heartbreaking loss of my two‑month‑old niece, I truly began to believe I wasn’t meant to finish my degree. After so many attempts ending in tragedy, it felt like a dream I would never reach. Then, I had Professor Jennifer Farmer. Professor Farmer didn’t just teach — she showed up for her students with unwavering compassion, consistency, and genuine care. She answered every email and text promptly and provided exceptional feedback on every assignment. Above all, she believed in me at a time when I didn’t believe in myself. She told us she was proud of us, encouraged us to keep going, and reminded us that our education mattered even when life felt overwhelming. To some, hearing “I’m proud of you” from someone you’ve never met might seem small, but for me, those words had a profound impact. Even in terms when she wasn’t my professor, I would think of her encouragement every time I felt like giving up, and it pushed me forward.Jerri P., AA in Paralegal Studies

Student Stories
After 24 years of military service, I knew my next goal was to prepare for life outside of the uniform. As I transitioned to civilian life, pursuing a degree in logistics and supply chain management challenged my discipline in new ways. There were nights I had to choose between studying or other things that needed my attention but the same grit that got me through 20 years of service got me through this one . My capstone research on Walmart’s supply chain operations confirmed that the analytical skills I developed leading soldiers have direct application to the business world. This is proof that the tenets of military life can be retooled to build something new. To any veterans starting this journey, keep moving forward, one goal at a time.Pierre B., BBA in Business Administration - Logistics and Supply Chain Management Concentration
As a single mom, my journey to a Business Management degree took four attempts. Life always got in the way. At 22, I paused for my newborn. Later, financial struggles forced me to quit to work. My third try was derailed by severe Rheumatoid Arthritis and knee replacements. I felt defeated, though watching my son earn two degrees filled me with pride. I then tried UA Grantham, but stopped when my father passed away. Thankfully, they reached out to me later, and I finally said YES to finishing. Today, at 55, I am FINALLY graduating! I never thought this day would come. Huge thanks to UA Grantham and my amazing student advisor, Scott Robinson, who never gave up on me and wouldn't let me give up on myself!Tracy L., AA in Business Administration and Management
Balancing a rigorous academic schedule, family, and life required immense resilience, but giving up was never an option. Pushing through the most exhausting days taught me that perseverance isn’t about everything going perfectly, it’s about staying dedicated to the end goal. My husband, Richard, was my absolute rock throughout this journey. On days when the workload felt overwhelming, his unwavering belief in me and his reminder to "take it one chart and one day at a time" kept me grounded. Graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.85 GPA is proof that hard work and a strong support system can turn any challenge into a stepping stone. I am incredibly proud to graduate from UA Grantham and step into the health information management field.Noreen H., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
Completing my degree is one of my greatest accomplishments. As a mother of three, balancing work, family, and school is challenging at times. During my time at UAG I suffered some extreme medical issues which required alot of surgeries and time spent in the hospital. There were moments when i had decided to just quit thinking there was no possible way I could catch up much less finish my program with my illnesses. Then I thought to myself, "I will not let this stop me from fulfilling what I have set out to accomplish". So with lots of determination and effort I was able to stay on course and persevere and overcame all the challenges. Most importantly " Momma I hope you are looking down from Heaven with that beautiful smile and hope that I have made you so proud, this ones for you mom, wish you could have been here but I know your here in spirit, I love and miss you so much.Lori E., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
During this program, my mother passed away. It was hard to pick up the pieces and keep up the good work. I had a 4.0 average, and I had to retake a class I dropped when my Mom passed. After the fourth week of class, the instructor decided I was cheating and using A.I. She even said my discussion questions were A.I. I passed the class; however, I felt cheated and emotionally picked on. She never explained or said what part of my papers was A.I. Likewise, she never allowed me to make those papers up either. I did pass her class, and it brought down my GPA. Nevertheless, in the rest of my classes, I continued to give my all, and I was never accused of that again, and graduated with a 3.90.Shena P., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing

Earning this degree from UA Grantham required true perseverance. Balancing full-time responsibilities with late-night study sessions was a constant test of my resilience. There were moments of exhaustion when giving up felt easier than pushing forward. However, my family kept me grounded. During my toughest semester, a close mentor gave me sage advice: "Focus on the next step, not the whole mountain." That shift in mindset changed everything for me. It transformed an overwhelming workload into achievable daily goals. Today, this milestone proves that consistency beats adversity. I am incredibly proud to graduate alongside such a dedicated community.Chanade H., AA in Business Administration and Management
Earning this degree wasn't just about passing classes—it was about refusing to quit. I balanced full-time military service, deployments, long hours, a full-time job, and the responsibility of being a father while continuing my education. There were plenty of nights when sleep came second to assignments, but my son reminded me why the sacrifice was worth it. I wanted to prove that no matter how demanding life becomes, your goals are still within reach if you're willing to put in the work. This degree represents perseverance, discipline, and the example I hope to set for my family: never stop improving yourself.Aaron J., BS in Cybersecurity
I am a 34-yr-old mother of 3 (2 boys ages 17 and 15; 1 daughter who's 11), we have a 4-yr old Pitt and 2 bearded dragons. I have no support system at all. I have medical issues like IIH (I have had 8 vp shunt surgeries) and was diagnosed with Nonepileptic seizures last year. This year (2026) has been extremely hard with the sudden loss of my brother in a motorcycle crash in April. I have overcome every obstacle that has been thrown my way, and I continue to break generational curses and showing my kids that education is important. So, if you are going through any struggle in life just know it won't be easy, but you can do it. I have also returned to UAG to pursue my Bachelor degree in Health Information Management.Brandi F., AAS in Medical Administrative Assistant
I found the University of Grantham through a work colleague of mine who was attending Grantham’s online program. After doing the research I found that Grantham filled the needs of me and my employer as an accredited school with the bachelor’s degree program that aligned with my undergraduate’s degree. Looking back on the past 2 or so years, I feel I’ve learned so much. I’ve rediscovered my love and passion for learning, and I find myself ready and able to meet whatever challenges I decide to take on. It hasn't been all rainbows and sunshine, at times it down right sucked. I don’t know what door I’ll open next in my career, but thanks to this degree I have more of an ability to choose.Stephen M., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology
I have three young children, a full-time job, and a family, so going back to school at the same time has been very challenging. Over the past three years, my schedule has been very busy and often overwhelming. One key strategy that helped me get through these challenges was limiting “fun and entertainment” activities and focusing seriously on my schoolwork. I typically spent around 30–40 hours per week on school. I plan to maintain this habit and continue building on it. Throughout most of my studies, I have also reached out to friends and coworker for help and advice with assignments when neeed.Quoc T., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology

I’m proud to be finishing my Associate of Applied Science in Medical Billing and Coding. The journey wasn’t easy. I started with two kids and one on the way, even returning to class just two days after giving birth. When my first school shut down, I took a year off, tried another degree, and realized the medical field is truly where I belong. Now, just weeks from graduation with a 3.5 GPA, I’m grateful to God, my husband, and my family and friends for believing in me and pushing me to finish what I started!!Kylee C., AAS in Medical Coding and Billing
It was a hard and long journey, but my academic advisor helped by checking on me, and making sure that if I ever needed anything that she was there for me. I have had tons of challenges, and the best advice I could give anyone is if you want it bad enough, just go get it, because the only person that can either make or break your future, is you.Joseph O., AA in Business Administration and Management
My college journey has not been a straight path. I’ve attended college three times and changed my major twice. Along the way, I faced mental health challenges that sometimes made school and life feel overwhelming, but I kept going. I’ve learned that mental health challenges do not define your potential. Success is about persistence, not perfection. I also want others to know they are not alone, even when it feels like they are. Many students are quietly going through similar struggles. Another key lesson I’ve learned is that environment matters and can greatly impact your ability to reach your goals. Through it all, I’ve learned that success is about resilience, growth, and continuing forward even when the path changes.Brianna K., AAS in Healthcare Administration
My journey began in 2016 when I enrolled at the University of Arkansas Grantham while serving on active duty. What started as a goal for career advancement became much more when I realized I would be the first person in my family to earn a college degree. After earning my associate degree, I continued toward my bachelor's while balancing military duties, family responsibilities, and, later, retirement from the Army in 2023. There were many late nights and challenges, but my wife and daughter encouraged me to keep going. I live by a simple principle: if I start something, I have to finish it. Earning this degree represents perseverance, resilience, and setting an example for my family.Wilfred E., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies
My journey to becoming a Medical Administrative Assistant wasn't easy. I faced long days, personal challenges, and moments when doubt tried to convince me to stop. but every time life pushed against me, i pushed harder. I learned resilience by showing up on the days i felt tired, overwhelmed, or unsure. I kept going when the work was difficult, when responsibilities piled up, and when progress felt slow. Each obstacle became proof that i was stronger than I thought. I didn't succeed because the path was smooth. i succeeded because i refused to quit. I stayed committed, stayed focused, and kept moving forward one step at a time.Cashai C., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant

These past two years have not been easy. As a full time high school band director, husband, and father of two, the sleepless nights have become numerous as I have finished up this degree. However, now that I'm at the other side of it all, I am extremely proud of myself and what I have accomplished. Not only do I have a new skillset, but I believe I have transformed as a person to be able to push myself and try new things. When I first began to even think about pursuing my certifications courses here at University of Arkansas Grantham I was hesitant. I constantly asked myself “Should you really be trying to take any college courses at your age?” Being a single mom of two wonderful boys I put them first and put what I wanted last. My boys are grown now with kids of their own. Through the support of my boys and my grandkids I decided to take the step and further my education. Having Julie Croly as my instructor for both Basic Diagnosis Coding Systems and Basic Procedure Coding System made a tremendous difference in my learning experience and in my confidence as a new medical coder. Julie has a gift for taking complex coding concepts and breaking them down in a way that feels clear, manageable, and encouraging. When I first began these courses, ICD‑10‑CM and CPT coding felt overwhelming; almost like learning a new language. But Julie’s teaching style changed that for me. She explained guidelines with patience, provided examples that made the material click, and offered feedback that helped me understand why a code was correct, and incorrect; not just what the answer was. What stood out most was her genuine commitment to student success. She consistently created an environment where questions were welcomed, mistakes were treated as learning opportunities, and progress was celebrated. Her support helped me build the confidence to navigate the coding books independently and trust my growing skills. Julie didn’t just teach me how to code; she helped me believe that I could and will succeed in this field. Her dedication, clarity, and encouragement truly embody teaching excellence, and I am grateful for the impact she has had on my education and career path.LaToya R., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing

From day one here at Grantham there has always been one super star I could always rely upon to help me in my times of need. Alec Tillery was / is my Student Advisor. For about 2 years now Alec has been there to assist me with problems big and small. Alec consistently sent reminders and supportive messages about my classes to keep me on track. He provided support and school resources when I wasn’t sure if I was going to pass my classes and even directed me towards grant resources to help me pay tuition when I thought I’d lose funding from my employer. I’ve always found Alec to be responsive to my issues, questions and concerns. Scott Robinson was my Student Advisor. This was who I was supposed to be with, Scott got me through some very hard times in my school life...some family ups and downs, moving to Missouri, then when that didn't work out, I moved back to Ohio a few months later, all while still trying to continue my schooling, and even thought about giving up! Scott was my saving grace!!! He's a rockstar!! He literally sat on the phone with me while I was having a major meltdown about life and didn't know what to do or where to turn. Scott was so kind and really, really patient with me, and he sat and listened as I vented, cried, and threatened to give up. He stopped me from doing that!!! After several failed attempts at higher education, I had given up on ever getting my degree. But my wife started pushing me to go back to school and I stumbled across UA Grantham during just a casual search of schools and it caught my eye. I applied and began this amazing journey. The school has been everything I could have ever dreamed of and more, and has pushed me to be the best version of myself. I am not wanting to continue at Grantham and eventually get my MBA, which 2 years ago I never would have even thought I would have wanted or would have been remotely possible. It has been an awesome journey and I am looking forward to continuing my education journey at UA Grantham.Brandon T., AA in Business Administration and Management

Getting a degree in business has always been on my to-do list, but other priorities have placed it as a low priority. Looking back, earning my degree could have propelled me further in my business endeavors earlier in life. As a youth, I did not take my education seriously and skated through school to my own demise. Making education a priority has significantly changed my attitude toward obtaining a formal education. It takes me back to a common phrase, "I wish that I knew all I know now when I was younger." It rings so true as I grow older. My advice to anyone who dares to take the challenge of a formal degree program is to give it your all, be dedicated, persevere, and apply a good work ethicJames O., BBA in Business Administration - Operations Management Concentration

I started working toward my bachelor’s degree 20 years ago, but because of work, deployments, and caring for my family, I could only take one class at a time. I wasn’t able to finish my degree until after I retired, and even then, dealing with PTSD symptoms sometimes made it difficult just to log in and complete assignments. On top of that, I also faced health challenges along the way. Despite all of those obstacles, the support of my family, friends, and especially my husband has helped me keep going. Now, I finally find myself about to achieve my goal of earning my degree.Abegail H., BA in Multidisciplinary Studies
I thank U of A at Grantham for allowing me the oppertunity to pursue a lifelong career goal for me. I will be honest, this time around wasn't easy for me. When I did my associates, it was a breeze. This time around, I faced several challenges. One of them was when my brother was killed. That was a difficult time for me and still is. I found myself not wanting to do anything. I just wanted to give it up. But I remembered that my brother wanted me to go far with this. I am the first in my family to earn a college education, and here I am, getting ready to graduate with my bachelor's degree. I know my brother is looking down on me, so very proud. I didn't just do this for me, I did it for him too!Mary C., BS in Health Information Management
It was very rough in the beginning, trying to balance a full-time job, family, and school. I didn't do well in the first two courses like I would have liked. I did manage to get it all balanced out. I thrived much better and did very well in my courses afterward. I'm really glad to have done this and am looking forward to my future career in the medical billing and coding world.Amber N., Certificate - Medical Coding and Billing
Maintaining a 4.0 GPA while navigating an elevated AVP role and the momentum of a family with two children represents the rejection of a "do as I say" approach to life, replacing it with lead-by-example resilience. Balancing executive responsibilities with the daily obligations of my children required unwavering prioritization. My husband, Mark, was the steady force who pushed me to succeed; he managed our home and supported our children so I could focus on my craft. His sage advice was to stay clear and direct in my ambitions. This journey wasn’t about a shallow version of success; it was about the integrity of hard work. I graduate ready to apply these real-world strategies, proving that finishing is the ultimate power.Magan K., MBA in Business Administration
My days usually start at 0430. Serving in the military demands total focus, whether out in the field or managing daily operations. But when the uniform finally comes off and the duty day ends, my "second shift" begins. Instead of clocking out mentally after a grueling day, I open my laptop. Balancing active duty with higher education means reading chapters on my phone during downtime and drafting essays on the weekends. It is a masterclass in resilience, but the exhaustion is worth it for two distinct reasons. This degree makes me a sharper, more capable leader for my soldiers. It equips me with the critical thinking skills needed to tackle complex problems and advance in my military career.Silamphone L., MS in Leadership
I first want to give recognition to all my instructors, peers, & my student advisor Sarah Steger without any of them I wouldn’t be here where I am today near graduation. I went into this knowing that if I was to fail I wouldn’t try again and I had really no ambition I was not serious going into this but the more of a challenge it was the more important the courses were to me the more I learned the more I wanted to know more and when I started losing focus my student advisor Sarah made sure that I didn’t give up. I’m forever grateful to the entire community of UA Grantham.Eva G., Certificate - Medical Administrative Assistant

This is the culmination of 5 years worth of hard work and strain. Being an adult learner comes with adult challenges like a demanding job and being a single parent. I completed most of this degree on the road in hotel rooms and after midnight as that was the time I had. I could not have made it through a traditional degree program as having the ability to do everything remotely and online made all the difference and this moment possible. It was a huge sacrifice, and it was well worth it as many new opportunities are opening all around every single day. This was definitely one of the most worth while things I have ever done for myself and it was 100% worth it! Its never too late to change your stripes.Jordan P., BS in Electronics Engineering Technology

I kept seeing this ad for UA Grantham, and I decided to investigate it. I didn't know that it was going to change my whole life. I am so thankful to my mom, because she has been here alongside me, cheering me on the whole time. When I thought that times were too much for me, she made sure to tell me not to give up. I also appreciate how she encourages students to ask questions and creates a learning environment where students feel comfortable reaching out for help.Kashann S., AA in Business Administration and Management
